著名藝術家夏碧泉先生在二零零九年十月十八日中午因病辭世。夏先生是香港雕塑學會的創會會長，藝術創作領域涵蓋雕塑、版畫、油畫、水墨畫及攝影，在各方面都有非凡造詣，是香港跨界別創作藝術家的佼佼者，他畢生的創作為香港藝術史寫下了精彩的一頁。
他對藝術的追求是永不言止，力求創新。夏先生的雕塑創作別樹一幟，其創作手法新穎而不落俗套，無論任何物料到他手中，經他巧妙的安排，都能化腐朽為神奇，為我們留下許多精彩的作品。

It is with great sorrow and sadness to announce the passing of renowed artist Mr. Ha Bik Chuen, on 18 October 2009. Mr. Ha was the founding president of the Hong Kong Sculpture Society. He had contributed greatly to the establishment of the Society and the events organized by the Society in the past two and a half years. Mr. Ha had high achievement in all his artistic endeavour, covering sculpture, print-making, western painting, Chinese painting and photography. He had been a standout all-round artist in Hong Kong. His great accomplishment will be a highlight in the art history of Hong Kong. Mr. Ha’s passing is a great loss to the art community of Hong Kong.

“emovere” is a solo exhibit of photographic & charcoal artworks by multi-media artist Hina.

The Latin word “emovere”, where e- means ‘out’ and movere means ‘move’, which makes it ‘the move one makes outward’, this word became the origin of the French word émouvoir. The French word then emerged to the English word, ‘emotion’, which is now commonly used as a description of the public display of one’s private inward reasoning.

The artist will be expressing her emotions through her models with photographs and charcoal. Hina has always been fascinated by the human beings, the eyes, noses, lips, hairs, skins… etc, all that are seen or unseen within the superior human beings. In this exhibit, she will not only express her emotion but will also express the mixed feeling she received from her models during the interaction with them.

Through interactions and communications, we understand people; however, there is this most direct form of understanding where Hina thinks it is the eye contacts with people which amaze her. She continues to photograph and make drawings of faces from 2001 and started this portraiture project in early 2009. This exhibit will showcase these emotions and will act as a preview of this actually bigger project later on this year and the next. The artworks will aim to affect audiences with an emotional curiosity for the further digestion of people’s different feelings in their inner minds. The artist hopes the artworks will make some room for the many minds to re-define feelings to a deeper perspective.


ARTIST STATEMENT

The artworks I’m exhibiting in this showcase are a part of my larger version of “emovere” which I hope to be exhibiting later on this year or the next, these works will act as a preview of it. I’m personally quite an emotional person, and am greatly affected by different emotions, so there I present my models and myself through visual works which I’ve been practicing for quite some years. I hope you enjoy the show.

一個揉合了攝影和木炭素描的肖像作品展，是多媒體藝術家軒娜首個於香港籌辦的公開展覽。

拉丁文"emovere"意指內在的意識受到外來激發而流露出來的現象, 如喜怒哀樂, 是法文"émouvoir"的來源。後來由法文演變成的英字"emotion"， 今天泛指個人對外界的情感表達。

軒娜向來對人類的面孔情有獨鐘，並希望於這次個展中透過她喜愛的攝影和木炭素描，表達自己的情緒， 同時分享與模特兒進行創作時互動交流的情感。

人類透過交流及溝通互相了解，而軒娜則認為其實有一種更直接的了解方式: 眼神接觸。 這亦是她著迷人像攝影及繪畫的原因。故此自二零零一年開始， 軒娜便開始從事肖像的攝影和描繪創作，更於二零零九初開始籌劃"emovere"，累積了無數的相關創作。是次展覽將只是整個計劃的一小部份，會為未來較大窺規模的展覽揭開序幕。

而作為一首序曲, 軒娜希望是次展覽能夠引起觀賞者對情緒表達的好奇心， 作為與觀賞者互動的第一步， 接而誘發他們進一步咀嚼人類情緒更深一層的內容， 並提供空間讓他們以嶄新的角度欣賞、發現和感受人類更深的情緒。

個展" emovere "

emovere はメディアアーティスト雛による木炭画と写真の展覧会です。

ラテン語でemovere のeは‘out’、movereは‘move’を意味し、emovereは外側に向かって移動するという意味を持っています。movereはフランス語のémouvoirの語源になり、そして英語の‘emotion’へとつながります。今日では‘emotion’という単語は人間の内面心理の描写として使われています。

この個展では作者自身の感情をモデル達と木炭画を通じて表現しています。雛はいつも人間に魅了されています。そして彼らの、瞳、鼻、唇、髪、肌、、、彼らのたくさんの要素に魅了されています。今回の個展では雛自身の感情だけにとどまらず、モデル達との交流によってもたらされた”複雑な感傷”を表現します。

私達はふれあいと交流によってお互いを理解します。しかし雛は他人との濃密なアイコンタクトが最もダイレクトな方法であると考えています。

雛は２００１年から今まで写真と顔の描写を続けています。そして２００９年の始めからポートフォリオプロジェクトを始めました。今回の個展はこれらの"感情"を展示し、今年以降のより大きなプロジェクトのプレビュー展示も兼ねています。

この作品群の目的は人間個人の内面理性の中で、ひとりひとりそれぞれの違った感情を観衆により深く感じてもらうことです。作者はこのこれらの作品がより深い視点でたくさんのこころを再構築するための余地を作ることを望んでいます。

"私が今回展示する作品は“emovere” プロジェクトの一部分です。私は今年以降プロジェクトの全貌を展示したいと思っています。今回の展示はそのためのプレビューです。
私のパーソナリティは非常に感傷的な人間であり、同時に他人から違う感情を多大に受けています。今日までの数年間、モデル達と私自身、映像作品を通じてその訓練をしているのです。
どうか、あなたが私の展覧会を楽しんでくれることを願っています。"

Teenager Kimberley Vlaminck has 56 stars tattooed on face after 'falling asleep'

This is the sight teenager Kimberley Vlaminck woke up to after falling asleep in a tattooist's chair - despite claiming she only asked for three stars.

The 18-year-old, who is now suing the body artist for £8,500, said: "I can't go out on the street. I am so embarrassed. I look horrible."

Kimberley says she nodded off during the lengthy and painful procedure and awoke to "the nightmare" of 56 stars across her face.

But tattoo artist Rouslan Toumaniantz denies her allegations. He says she only complained after her father "threw a fit" and her boyfriend threatened to dump her.

Kimberley, of Courtrai in Belgium, claimed the Romanian tattooist had failed to under-stanher French and English. She said: "I explicitly said in my native tongue, French, and also in a little bit of English when he looked confused, that I wanted three little stars only near my left eye." But Mr Toumaniantz said he knew exactly what she wanted. He added: "She was awake and looked into the mirror several times as the procedure was taking place.

"The trouble all started when she went home and her father and boyfriend threw a fit. They are saying things now like I doped her or hypnotised her. What rubbish. She asked for 56 stars and that's what she got."

Kimberley has launched the civil action, seeking money for tattoo removal surgery.

Why, why, and why?

--- 漁護署胡亂借出貓籠，引致小貓慘死 ---

有義工報告，今早（5月26日）零晨二時於北角水星街泰華大厦梯間，發現一隻小貓被困在漁護署捕貓籠內，全身濕透無力，發出微弱叫聲。義工見狀隨即報警，愛護動物協會人員到場把小貓帶走治理，經獸醫檢驗顯示小貓身體正常無病，但相信小貓這幾天並無食物，及曾被人放於暴雨下。小貓延至下午3:30休克及出現嚴重脫水，搶救無效，最終不治。
