Dom Chung Profile
At just 24 Dom could almost be classed as a veteran judging by the standards he’s set so far in the DJing community. Being the youngest person to do a Radio One Guest Mix at only 18 years old, after he was personally asked by Seb Fontaine, Dom’s profile has soared through the roof since and he is now one of the brightest up and coming names in the club scene. Famed for his impeccable mixing and vast record collection Dom has built up a firm following over the years.
Having built his trade through his residency at legendary UK Clubbing institution Chibuku Shake Shake, he has proved time and time again that he knows how to rock the dance floor with his electronic house vibe where he is equally at home warming up the floor or smashing it late on regularly appearing on the same bill as the Worlds leading names.
Through Dom’s high profile Chibuku residency more and more bookings began to come his way as he gained the attention of Europe’s leading promoters and venues, securing regular high profile gigs at Festivals such as Creamfields and Homelands and leading venues such as Fabric and Ministry Of Sound as well as more and more European bookings.
It wasn’t long before Ministry took him all full time, securing him as Sessions Tour resident which has since seen Dom travel the world regularly playing the Worlds best venues.
Support DJs
DJ Arun R. aka Guru Profile
DJ Guru has been at the decks for over 5 years now. His style has developed into what has become a fresh sound for House music that is currently highly sought after by clubs and venues in Hong Kong. The niche factor is his varied and unique taste of music that influences his live sets. The last year and half has seen Arun making solid coverage of prime venues in Hong Kong, taking up several residencies, as well as visits to China, and overseas invitations for the next year.
While working as a Resident DJ for HKClubbing.com, he has established himself in various recognized venues around Hong Kong, pushing out the funky sounds of dance music. 2007 has started off as a promising year for Guru with new residencies at two of Hong’s Kong most acclaimed venues, FINDS and Aqua Spirit (globally acclaimed venue), and an invitation to play at India’s largest nightclub, Elevate (Ranked 35th in the World by DJ Magazine).
House music is currently his focus: he can take his crowds through captivating journeys of eclectic funk, melodic progressions, and groovy electro. His music has also attracted various organizers to book him for unique events at art galleries, fashion events and private parties for names such as ‘Kookai’, ‘Miss Sixty’, ‘Energie’, ‘Bombay Sapphire’ and ‘Bacardi’. Even publications such as JUICE and BEATS Magazines are chasing him for blurbs on various music scenes in HK. He is also one of the organizers and support DJs for Hed Kandi in Hong Kong. Current residencies in Hong Kong: Aqua spirit / FINDS / Gecko Lounge / Solas. With a growing reputation and a thirst for fresh music, Guru has now put aside time to work on his own productions as well as collaborations with other artists.
DJ Steve Bruce Profile
Steve Bruce started his DJ career back in the early-80s as a mobile DJ spinning at weddings, bah mitzvahs & 16th birthday parties, trying to get away with spinning the then underground jazz-funk & rare-groove music he loved, to a mainstream crowd. You can’t keep a good man down though, and Steve rapidly progressed to better things.
In London he ran the notorious ‘TOP OF THE POPS’ parties in Mayfair and was a regular DJ at 'LES TEAROOMS DES ARTISTES', a popular post MINISTRY OF SOUND after-party club that ran for many years in Clapham, south London.
Steve has lived in Hong Kong for the past ten years and during this time he has been a regular at many of Hong Kong’s top venues including, SOLAS, KEE Club, 1/5, AQUA Spirit, LOFT 9, YUMLA, FINDS & CLUB 97 as well as playing regularly around the Asia region.
His funky eclectic style covers many musical genres from BOSSA NOVA, through RARE-GROOVES, UNDERGROUND DISCO, BROKEN BEATS & OLD-SKOOL HIP-HOP, but he is best known for his SOULFUL HOUSE sets. His sets are noted for their musically-knowledgeable, yet unpretentious content. Steve cites NORMAN JAY, GILLES PETERSON & DIMITRI FROM PARIS as his biggest DJ influences.
Steve has been behind some of the most successful regular nights in Hong Kong over the years including his long-running ‘SOULUTION’ night , ‘HARD TIMES - The Recession Sessions’ at METRO bar, ‘Hong Kong Eclectic’ at ELEMENTS bar and ‘Deano Martino’, a weekly jazz/lounge night at 1/5 which was voted one of the top 5 best bars in the world by Conde Nast Traveler.
The evening was so successful that EMI co-launched a CD under the ‘Deano Martino’ umbrella, featuring a selection of music chosen by Steve and the other members of the Deano Martino DJ line-up.
Steve has been invited to DJ at private parties for RONNIE WOOD of the ROLLING STONES, BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB artists RUEBEN GONZALEZ & IBRAHIM FERRER & R&B artist CRAIG DAVID and has played alongside many international DJ’s including Norman Jay, Lisa Loud, BARGROOVES head honcho Ben Sowton, PACHA Ibiza resident Graham Sahara and FIERCE ANGELS Mark Doyle.
Steve was the Friday night resident at the legendary CLUB 97 in Hong Kong for over 2 years before moving to SOLAS ( www.solas.com.hk ) in his new position as Launch Music Director and then Friday night resident, running his successful ‘SOULUTION’ night.
He also works regularly with UK-based SEAMLESS RECORDINGS ( www.seamlessrecordings.co.uk ) promoting their BAR GROOVES & CITY LIFE compilation series’.
He is the first DJ in Asia to be sponsored by SEAMLESS.
Steve also works closely with LOVE DA RECORDS (www.love-da-records.com) in Hong Kong and in 2006 released his first commercial CD via Club 97 called ‘SOUNDS OF CLUB 97’ which spent the whole summer of 2006 in the HMV dance chart.
“Steve is an incredibly versatile DJ, with a deep understanding of the roots of dance music. His ability to read a crowd and to direct an atmosphere clearly demonstrates his gift for knowing what to play, and when”
